ABFFE's Annual Children's Art Auction and Reception
The
American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) will host
an auction of original children's art from some of the nation's leading
illustrators and authors at BookExpo America. The auction is one of the
highlights of the children's book industry, bringing together
booksellers, publishers, authors, and artists. Funds from the auction
will benefit the ABFFE Fund for Free Speech in Children's Books. Author
Walter Dean Myers is the honorary chair of this year's event.
Reservations
are now being accepted for the auction. The ticketed event will be held
in the evening on June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Javits Convention Center. Ticket prices
for the Auction and Reception are $75 for booksellers who are members of the ABC
Children's Group and $95 for all others.
Tickets are limited and may sell out prior to BookExpo. If not, they can be purchased at the event or during a preview of the art that will be held in the South Concourse (south end, Level 2) on the day of the event. Tickets purchased onsite will be $105 ($85 for booksellers who are ABC members).
(Tickets to the Auction are also
included as part of the fee for the one-day ABC Group Children's Institute at
BEA, on Wednesday, June 6, for ABA member booksellers. For more about
the Children's Institute and to register please visit http://kids.bookweb.org.) Please email ABFFE Program Assistant Amy Long if you have any questions about tickets, ticket purchasing, or the auction.
